New Media
Non-Profit Start up
Operation Ed is an online community for veterans pursuing education. My team and I built this site in order to connect those service men and women just beginning the transition to civilian and student life with veterans who are now on campus or have already graduated. I co-designed the site (again utilizing a wordpress CMS), built the flash-image gallery, and contributed content (Christine Donati profile, photographs for the Welcome Home slideshow). The site launched June 10, 2008.
Multimedia Shell
This is my first attempt at putting together a mutli-media web shell for the news stories I write. It’s a profile of Alaina Bissey, who along with a group called Texas 4000, will ride her bike from Austin to Alaska in summer 2008. The site features an interactive map to track her progress, a photo slide show of a practice ride to Corpus Christi, and links to her online journal. To view the entire site, please click here.
SoundSlides
In this sample, two classmates and I share our summer experiences and how the stories we gathered - a crazy wedding, a Native American corn husk festival, a trip to the wailing wall - helped us as we learn to be journalists. The first voice and story are mine; I also took the photographs that accompany it. After the other stories were recorded, I compiled all the voice and photographs into the final Soundslide production.
