Design

Website

Beside designing and building this site, I also have worked on a wedding photography website, Blink Twice Photography. Both of these sites use heavily modified templates on WordPress content management systems.

I am also one of five full-time web editors at the Austin American-Statesman and Statesman.com. Some of my favorite web designs are below. We recently switched from the Teamsite CMS to a new one called Escenic. With Teamsite, we handcoded everything in BBedit, uploaded via fetch, and managed with Teamsite. Escenic is self-contained, with minimal coding. These samples come from Teamsite because it had a little bit more creative flexibility for centerpieces.

And my pet project (Pun intended), is the year-long dogshow project I’ve been working on. This was the original dogshow page, created in February 2009. I wrote literally every line of code on a blank BBedit doc and tweaked until it looked like this beauty. It took many man hours, but I was proud to have built it from scratch. It gets several thousand hits each day.

Album Design

This album demonstrates my ability to handle page design and layout. It’s a 13 x 11 album, mixes color and black and white images and design elements such as opacity, lines, and simple layout to create an elegant, coherent book. I use many of the principles I learned in my visual design classes at the University of Texas, including typography and layout techniques.
